Book Week

This term we have been judging shortlisted books out for 30. My favourite book was Sorry Day. Sorry Day had a score of 28. It had very good pictures and information. Sorry Day won and Make Believe and the Happiness Box was runner up.

A good information book needs to have,

1. A picture to back up the information

2.More words an pictures on a page

3.A lot of detail in the text.

What was your favourite book out of the shortlist?

Sovereign Hill Reflection

The best thing about Sovereign Hill was the school program. It was the best except that we had to wear knickerbockers. We had 4 breaks to play with toys from the 1850s. We had year levels (I was in year five).

What I learned that I did not know was how to use an ink well. It got a bit messy sometimes because it smudged the paper. I also learnt the 17 times tables. The teacher wanted us to do that 18 times tables but no one knew how to do them so we did the 17 times tables instead.

Another highlight on the  Sovereign Hill camp was the mine tours. One of them had a train that took a minute to go down to get our eyes ready for the lighting in the mine and on the way back up it took 20 seconds. On the other mine tour we got to see a big golden nugget. We had a   speaker telling us what to do to climb up a ladder or stand still and listen to information.

What I was feeling.

I felt so good when we did the 17 time tables and the poem with the comma which was one of my friends hitting the ground with a log. It was so funny when l gave the teacher 50 pounds. When the inspector walked in saying l bought one of the cottages for 37 pound I knew I had too much to give!

What would you bring if you were there to pay for your school fees?

Would you go to Sovereign Hill?

From Thomas

My Favourite part of the Festival was footy at lunch . We had marking places and we could kick for the Goal from 15 metres , 20 metres and 25 metres.

Mark taught me how to draw really cool things. We walked away we really cool drawings. He said that you always who’s the pictures first.

In the rehearsal we started with our script and we all started on the some side. An after 1 week we had script down and it looked good. We Performances in the morning to parents and year 3. In the afternoon we Performances at a local nursing homes. I learned my line. For the year 4 students next year I think you will love the experience. Will you like it?
